International Seminar on Peace and Humanitarian Aid for Gaza 2011

In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

We are the participants of the International Seminar on Peace and Humanitarian aid for Gaza in Kuala Lumpur, with the slogan of: ‘FREEDOM FLOTILLA II – STAY HUMAN ’;

The Declaration of Kuala Lumpur in Support of Peace and Humanitarian Aid for Gaza
Saturday April 23, 2011

“Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.” surah al-isra

1. Israel siege and embargo imposed on Gaza are illegal, inhumane and immoral. UN Security Council Resolution 1860 marked the embargo as illegal and stated that it should be lifted immediately.

2. Peace and Humanitarian are basic principles of life for everybody regardless of their differences such as in ethnics, religion, etc and it should be preserved.

3. Malaysian citizens whether they are Muslim, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jewish and others must unite in helping the oppressed people in Palestine especially to the people of Gaza and standing up together to struggle against all types of aggression.

4. As civil and conscious society, we must use all efforts and actions to spread the awareness on the issue of Peace and Humanitarian Aid for Gaza and to unify everybody in this regards.

5. The Freedom Flotilla is urgently needed due to Israel’s escalating military attack and socio-economy embargo on Gaza.

6. Freedom Flotilla is a civil society initiative, undertaken by individuals from all walks of life and reflecting the diversity of people in protecting humanity. It is an effort that does not represent any government and relationships with any state of government and will not go beyond what is mandated by maritime law.

7. The government and non-government of Malaysian agencies must show support and protect its citizens who are participating in this humanitarian effort.

We are all working for the sake of Peace and Humanitarian,
Hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, together on the way to Palestine
Resilient no matter how long it takes, no matter how dear sacrifices have become
Today we meet for Peace and Humanitarian and tomorrow we meet in Gaza Insha’Allah

Projek Kenaf

"Originated from South-east Asia, Kenaf is a member of the hibiscus family (Hibiscus cannabinus L), and it is related to cotton and okra. Kenaf grows quickly, rising to heights of 12-14 feet in as little as 4 to 5 months.

Generally, the Kenaf seed been used only for the extraction of oils and all the remaining part of the tree will be considered as a waste and were just thrown away. Due to this, we have come up with a proper solution which might turn the ‘waste’ into something that can be used as the nutritious animals’ feed given a lower capital."

"ajar mereka memancing, bukan sekadar memberi ikan setiap hari".

objektif projek kami (Kenaf Project):

1) This project focuses on the triple bottom line concepts, which are profits, people and planet.
2) To increase profits by reducing the cost of production in terms of reusing the product waste to the companies.
3) To assist the farmers in increasing their income by reducing the cost of animal feed as an alternative to grass feed.
4) To sustain clear environment by fully utilizing the product waste as alternatives to cattle’s food.

selamat bekerja untuk ummah to all my fellow committees! ^_^

~dua kali terlibat dalam bidang bio-tech membuatkan ana teruja; satunya tika program KAKS januari lalu STEVIA, bergabung pengalaman dan ilmu dengan student IIUM Kuantan dibidang bio-medicine. sebelum sertai Stevia, ana telah dicurahkan ilmu tentang Stevia sejak 2008 di MIHAS. Alhamdulillah dapat merasa jadi student bio-med seketika. ^_~ Dan kini KENAF, dealing with bio-tech~

research assistant mencari al-Qur'an

I started my early morning today dengan penuh rasa malas..

"hadoila.. biar betul ni nak kena gi interview..".

berat2 mata tu sambung jgak la study teks yang merangkumi 36 pages. sejak lewat malam tadi sampai la lepas subuh duk usha2 & highlight pe yang patut.

5 minit sebelum tepat jam yang dijanjikan ana dah sampai depan bilik Dr.

we were having around 1 hour discussion about the research paper. ana rasa kan.. memory ana tertinggal kat bilik ber-giga2 byte! sebab, banyak sangat input yang Dr. bagi pagi ni.. rasa rugi kalau tak boleh 'telan' sume sekali dalam minda. push2!!

here the details of the person that I just got to know. rupa2nya Dr. ni kawan baik dengan abah angkat ana; Encik Yusuf, Pengarah Kewangan YaPeIM tu. ngeh2..! orang besar bertemu orang besar. eceh~

Name : Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Fauzan Noordin
Qualification : Ph.D Information of Technology (University Of Wales, UK)
Kulliyyah : Director, Centre For Collaborative Technologies.

antara yang ana dapat 'kutip' dr ilmu2 tadi:

apa juga di dunia ini bermula dengan 'data', which is the numerous combination of 0 and 1. it then transform into information, which is bila kesemua number2 tu digabungkan untuk membentuk satu2 huruf. contoh: ejaan M.A.K.A.N terdiri daripada M = 010111, A = 011100.. dan seterusnya.

so, boleh disimpulkan begini syarahan Dr. tadi:

data --} information
information + value --} knowledge
knowledge + practices --} wisdom (hikmah)
wisdom --} kita dekat dengan Allah

dan fahaman asal ana pula:

data --} information
information + value --} knowledge
knowledge + deeper understanding --} ma'rifah
knowledge --} ma'rifah --} hikmah (wisdom)

means nya knowledge, ends nya Ma'rifatullah

haha.. tiba2 ana plak jadi ahli ilmu bab2 gni..

Dr. juga bilang, perumpamaan baby itu macam data, bila dia membesar ibubapanya yg mem-'pattren'kn baby itu jadi information then melalui knowledge bila baby itu faham nilai2 dirinya.

the ending of course la kita kan 'kembali' kepada Pencipta; 'kembali' dalam erti kata kita masih hidup = kita makin cintakan Allah, dan 'kembali' dalam erti kata kita mati itu sudah menjadi satu kepastian bukan..? (hehe~ ini ayat otak-senget ana jek ok)

anyway n anyhow moga2 ilmu yang dah lama bersarang dalam dada ni (sebab bab ni sume belajar masa second year dulu) kembali Allah izinkan ana buka lembarannya buat lebih mendekati al-Quran. aamin!

sambung!

hm, mengikut buku yang Dr. tulis sebelum ni, 'Islam dan Computer', perisian komputer tu sepatutnya terdiri begini:

software + hardware + peopleware + heartware

software
peopleware (we are as the runner: pelaku yang berinteraksi dengan komputer)
heartware (sikap kita: bila kita guna wisely, tak ada nak harm2 orang lain)

kemudian kami bertiga berbincang tentang a broadest scope of knowledge. qissah para anbiya', ummah terdahulu, sciences of knowledge dalam al-Qur'an dan segala macam lagi. ana ada catit dalam nota kecil ana. sbb rse tak mampu nak kongsi secara bertulis, nt xsampai maksud hujah.

tu sebab ana cakap tadi terlupa nak bawak memory super-giga byte ^_~

preparation for R.A

happy reading!

1. The Islamic Concept of Knowledge

Dr. Sayyid Wahid Akhtar
Vol XII No. 3

In the Islamic theory of knowledge, the term used for knowledge in Arabic is 'ilm, which, as Rosenthal has justifiably pointed out, has a much wider connotation than its synonyms in English and other Western languages. 'Knowledge' falls short of expressing all the aspects of 'ilm. Knowledge in the Western world means information about something, divine or corporeal, while 'ilm is an all-embracing term covering theory, action and education. Rosenthal, highlighting the importance of this term in Muslim civilization and Islam, says that it gives them a distinctive shape.

It may be said that Islam is the path of "knowledge." No other religion or ideology has so much emphasized the importance of 'ilm. In the Qur'an the word 'alim has occurred in 140 places, while al-'ilm in 27.

In all, the total number of verses in which 'ilm or its derivatives and associated words are used is 704. The aids of knowledge such as book, pen, ink etc. amount to almost the same number. Qalam occurs in two places, al-kitab in 230 verses, among which al-kitab for al-Qur'an occurs in 81 verses. Other words associated with writing occur in 319 verses. It is important to note that pen and book are essential to the acquisition of knowledge. The Islamic revelation started with the word iqra' ('read!' or 'recite!').

2. The Qur'an, Knowledge, and Science

A. Abd-Allah :

The Description of Knowledge in the Qur'an and by the Prophet (saas)

The Relationship Between the Qur'an and Modern Science :

A. - On the ongoing process of creation

B. - On pollution and the wasting of natural resources

C. - On the dual nature of iron

D. - On the origin of life in water

E. - On the diversity of mankind

F. - On the Water Cycle

G. - On Human Embryological and Fetal Development

H. - On Cosmology

*************************************

3. Islamic Conception of Knowledge

In the Holy Quran the word al-Ilm, knowledge, and its derivatives are used more than 780 times. The first few verses that were revealed to our Holy Prophet (SAW) mention the importance of reading, pen, and teaching for human beings:

Read: in the name of your Lord who created. He created man from something which clings. Read and your Lord is the most generous. Who taught with pen. Taught man what he knew not..." (96:1-5)

Traditions attributed to the Holy Prophet (SAW) in this regard, some of which are quoted below:

• It is an obligation for every Muslim to seek knowledge.

• Seek knowledge even if it be in China.

• Seek knowledge from cradle to grove.

• Scholars are the heirs of the prophets.

• The ink of the learned will be weighed with the blood of the martyrs on the Resurrection Day; and then, the ink of the learned would be preferred to the blood of the martyrs.

• Anyone who pursues a course in search of knowledge, God will ease his way to paradise.

• The most learned of men is the one who gathers knowledge from others on his own; the most worthy of men is the most knowing and the meanest is the most ignorant.

• Acquire knowledge, it enables its possessor to distinguish right from wrong; it lights the way to heaven.

Some Wise Sayings of Imam Ali (AS) in this regard, which are quoted below:
• O you who carry knowledge around with you; are you only carrying it around with you? For surely knowledge belongs to whoever knows and then acts accordingly, so that his action corresponds to his knowledge. There will be a people who will carry knowledge around with them, but it will not pass beyond their shoulders. Their inner most thoughts will contradict what they display in public, and their actions will contradict what they know.

• Do not turn your knowledge into ignorance and your surety into doubt. When you acquire knowledge then act in accordance with it and when you achieve surety then proceed with it.

• Knowledge is accompanied by action. Thus he who knows acts in accordance with it. Knowledge is called through action. Thus if called it responds and if left uncalled it leaves.

• The lowest form of knowledge is the one which (only) appears upon the tongue while the loftiest is the one made manifest by the organs and the limbs.

• Verbal Knowledge is of the least value, while practical knowledge is of the highest.

• The more knowledgeable the man, the more valuable the man.

• The most complete gift of God is a life based on knowledge.

• Knowledge gives life to the soul. Knowledge creates fear of God.

• Practice makes knowledge perfect.

• The one who engages in business without knowledge of its laws is inevitably dragged into usury.

• Two types of people will never be satiated, the seeker of knowledge and the seeker of this world.

• The best companion is satisfaction while knowledge is a noble heritage. Good morals are renewable garments and thought is a clear mirror.

• There is no virtue in your possession of excessive wealth and offspring rather virtue and merit are (awarded) by greater knowledge and insistence and by your devotion to your Lord.

• When a dead person is placed in his grave, four kinds of fire will cover him, but then the prayer will come and put one of them out, and the fast will come and put another one of them out, and then charity will come and put another one out, and knowledge will come and put the forth one out, and it will say: If I had come sooner, I would a have put all of them out, and given you delight for I am with you now, and you'll not see anything else distressing.

• When Allah wishes to humiliate a person He prevents him from gaining knowledge.

Knowledge is better than Wealth because of the following seven reasons:

1. Knowledge is inheritance of Prophets while wealth is inheritance of Firauns (Pharaohs).

2. Knowledge does not diminish (rather increases) with spending, while wealth diminishes with spending.

3. Wealth requires to be protected, while knowledge protects its owner.

4. Knowledge will enter the Kafan (Shroud) while wealth will be prevented from doing so.

5. Wealth reaches both believers and unbelievers (Kafir), while knowledge is reserved only for those who are worthy of it.

6. Knowledge will facilitate passing over the Seraat (Bridge over Hell) while wealth will pore hurdles.

7. People are always in need of scholars while they might not be in need of those possessing wealth.

School of Life

"The difference between school and life are in SCHOOL, you were taught a lesson, then given a test to test your IQ, but in LIFE you are given the test first that teaches you a lesson. Test in life is one of the measure's faith or belief in God for all people"
